Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 total earning potential per year (ProSal with no negative accrual)

Sign on Bonus: Up to $25,000 or we'll match any competitive bonus offer

Belton Animal Clinic and Exotic Care Center is hiring a full-time veterinarian to provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care to a variety of animals, including cats, dogs, amphibians, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, reptiles, and other small mammals.

Approximately 20% of our caseload includes exotic patients. Prior exotic experience is a plus, though not required, as structured mentorship is provided for those interested in learning alongside a nationally recognized Board-Certified Exotics Specialist.

What to Expect

  • A schedule that respects your time. 4-day work week with rotating Saturdays, no on-call, and closed Sundays and major holidays. Hours: Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–6:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM–1:00 PM.
  • Strong Support Staff. Work with a skilled, collaborative team that keeps your workflow efficient and allows you to stay focused on patient care.
  • Collaborative Team. Partner with 21 experienced doctors, including 12 partners, across 7 Kansas City area hospitals supported by VPP, with built-in mentorship and collaboration.

  • Mentorship from a Board-Certified Exotics Specialist. Gain hands-on experience alongside a Diplomate in Exotic Companion Mammal Medicine, with opportunities to expand into acupuncture, herbal medicine, and medical manipulation.
  • Path to Leadership and Partnership. Build equity and help shape the hospital's direction, supported by VPP's network of 260+ partner doctors across 200 locations, with resources in operations, marketing, and finance and ongoing development through Clinical Skills Academy, Leadership Academy, and Partnership Training.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid veterinary license in the state of Missouri (or eligibility to obtain one)
  • Current DEA License or ability to obtain
  • Prior exotics experience welcome but not required – structured mentorship is provided
  • A genuine interest in long-term leadership and/or practice ownership is strongly preferred
