Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of a Chaplain Supervisor, the Chaplain Resident provides pastoral services M-F with 8-hour-per-day accountability to the dually accredited CPE program. College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) and Clinical Pastoral Education, International (CPEI) accredited this CPE program. Serves in a 24-7 rotation of Duty Chaplain and participates in rotation of on-call responsibilities. Uses CPE to increase competence as a service provider demonstrating incrementally the satiation of CPE’s specific objectives and outcomes for the type of training engaged. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other departments and staff, including community clergy, to meet the religious, sacerdotal, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Provides formal support services as ministry, including those standardized by the departments, e.g.: spirituality groups, new admit visits, code response, notarizing advance medical directives, member of the interdisciplinary team, and serves in a variety of other specialized ways which supports the mission of HCA. 

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from ATS accredited Seminary, Divinity, or Rabbinic School, or equivalent graduate and post-graduate studies. A Master of. Divinity preferred 
  • Learning indicative of readiness to engage the objectives of CPE 
  • Current faith group, ecclesiastical, and religious endorsement 
  • A minimum of three (3) years, post-seminary pastoral experience or significant, commendable experience in a process authorized ecclesiastically that required sustained, pastoral activity 
  • Documented effectiveness as a pastoral care practitioner for at least a year 
  • Completion of one unit of certified CPE (CPSP, CPEI, or ACPE)
  • Familiarity with and propensity for experiential education, including the ability to manage crises, and work as an effective team member
