Job description

The Associate Chaplain provides spiritual care, counseling, and crisis intervention for patients, families, and team members of Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) in collaboration with staff chaplains and Spiritual Care leadership. The Associate Chaplain offers spiritual guidance and resources during hospitalization and periods of illness, crisis and loss, providing services to a diverse population encompassing all faiths.
Duties & Responsibilities
POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
  • Neonate - <30 days
    Infancy - >30 days to 1yr
    Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs
    Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
    School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
    Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
    Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs
    Older Adult 65 yrs +

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
  • 1. Assesses the source of internal strength (spiritual or faith tradition) for patients, families, and team members. Responds to spiritual care needs and requests while on-call related to illness, trauma, crisis, end of life, stress, and loss. Documents interventions and services provided.
    2. Performs religious rites, services, as requested by patients and/or families, and acts as a resource collaborating with community faith leaders.
    3. Collaborates with staff chaplains and Spiritual Care leadership to assess the need for crisis debriefing and coordinates with organizational resources for staff spiritual resilience.
    4. Provides spiritual care materials for the support of patients and families. Supports team members with their spiritual resiliency and compassion development in collaboration with staff chaplains.
    5. Provides spiritual services in alignment with departmental and organizational objectives and strategies.
    6. Participates in departmental meetings and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • Successfully completed or currently enrolled in a Master of Divinity, Pastoral Counseling, Theology, or related field degree program; and completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at an ACPE accredited teaching center.

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.62
