Job description

STR is seeking a Lead All-Source Analyst and Modeling Engineer with strong intelligence and cyber backgrounds who has a passion for applying technical analysis and systems modeling to solve hard target problems. This role combines intelligence tradecraft expertise with software development and reverse engineering skills to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions. Work must be performed onsite.

What you will do:
  • Develop tools and automated workflows to sift through large datasets and identify information relevant for modeling and intelligence efforts
  • Apply all-source intelligence tradecraft and technical analysis to create system models from circuit diagrams, schematics, source code, signal processing algorithms, and reverse-engineered components
  • Leverage intelligence databases and analytic tools to support technical collection and threat modeling
  • Create custom query logic and scripts to extract, correlate, and analyze data across multiple databases and intelligence repositories
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to tackle challenging problems from a wide variety of technologies to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions
  • Apply network analysis, communications intelligence (COMINT), and signals intelligence (SIGINT) tradecraft to technical problems
  • Document, demonstrate, and present research findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Brief leadership on project status, technical findings, and operational impacts
  • Solve real world problems that have an impact on national security

Who you are:
  • This position requires an Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with active CI polygraph (or willingness to obtain CI polygraph), for which U.S. citizenship is needed by the U.S. Government
  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience) with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Intelligence community experience with demonstrated proficiency in:
    • All-source intelligence tools and databases (e.g., DataXplorer, XKeyScore, or similar)
    • Intelligence Oversight (IO) policies and procedures
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, or similar languages
  • Experience with data analysis and automation: pandas, SQL queries, scripting for data extraction
  • General understanding of electrical engineering: Circuit and flow diagrams, signal processing chains, network traffic data
  • Proficiency with modeling tools: SPICE, MATLAB, or similar
  • Willing to travel frequently from an STR office to the customer location in MD, or spend the majority of time at customer location

Nice to have:
  • SIGINT, COMINT, or Cryptologic experience (military or civilian)
  • Experience with network analysis and communications systems: Wireshark, protocol analysis, satellite communications
  • Reverse engineering experience: Ghidra, IDA Pro, firmware analysis, malware analysis
  • Knowledge of disassembly/decompilation: Analyzing protocols, message structures, binary file formats
  • Foreign language skills (especially Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Farsi, or other priority languages)
  • DLPT scores in mission-relevant languages
  • Capture the Flag (CTF) experience: HTB, VulnHub, picoCTF, penetration testing
  • Experience developing automated analysis tools or custom tradecraft solutions
  • Knowledge of digital twin development and cyber-physical system modeling
  • Experience with embedded systems analysis or signal processing algorithm development
  • Background in targeting, collection management, or operational intelligence
  • Proven ability to lead small cross-functional teams on complex technical problems
  • Experience briefing senior leadership and creating strategic intelligence products

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $173,000 - $230,000
The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
