Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

Position Summary

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for transforming complex business data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. This role will partner with leaders across Finance, Operations, Sales, and other business functions to develop dashboards, analyze key performance indicators, identify trends, and improve visibility into company performance.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and technical skills, experience working with large datasets, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities


Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Provide leadership with timely and accurate insights into financial and operational performance.
  • Create recurring and ad hoc reports for business leaders and executive management.
  • Ensure reports are clear, consistent, and aligned with organizational priorities.


KPI Analysis & Performance Management

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators across multiple lines of business.
  • Analyze trends, variances, and performance drivers against budgets, forecasts, and established targets.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and areas requiring additional management attention.
  • Partner with business leaders to establish consistent KPI definitions and reporting methodologies.
  • Provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency, revenue, profitability, and overall performance.


Data Analysis & Insights

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and business opportunities.
  • Perform root-cause analysis to explain changes in financial and operational results.
  • Develop predictive analyses, scenario models, and performance forecasts as needed.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Support strategic initiatives, business cases, and investment decisions with data-driven analysis.


Data Management & Governance

  • Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting systems.
  • Partner with Technology and business teams to resolve data-quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain reporting documentation, data definitions, and process procedures.
  • Support data-governance initiatives and establish reporting standards.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are maintained around sensitive and confidential information.


Systems & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and analytical processes.
  • Improve the efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of existing dashboards and reports.
  • Partner with Technology teams on data warehouse, ERP, and business intelligence enhancements.
  • Support system implementations, integrations, testing, and user acceptance.
  • Evaluate new tools and technologies that can improve business intelligence capabilities.


Business Partnership

  • Serve as a strategic analytical partner to Finance, Operations, Sales, and executive leadership.
  • Gather business requirements and recommend appropriate reporting solutions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Train users on dashboards, reporting tools, and self-service analytics.
  • Manage multiple analytical projects and competing business priorities.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of business intelligence, data analytics, financial analysis, or related experience.
  • Advanced experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or a similar business intelligence platform.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience analyzing financial and operational KPIs across multiple business units.
  • Familiarity with ERP, CRM, data warehouse, and cloud-based reporting environments.
  • Experience with Python, R, Alteryx, or other analytics tools preferred.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards and presenting insights to senior leadership
