Senior Controls Engineer position is responsible for holistic controls design, developing standards, developing training documentation, developing Standard Work Practices, documentation, programming, testing, continuous improvement, and helping other team members improve their skills in electrical controls.

The Senior Controls Engineer position is located in Olive Branch, MS.

You’ll be excited about this opportunity because you will….
  • Design PLC Control/Power Panels utilizing AutoCAD for panel layout, field device layouts, electrical wiring schematics and make panel component selection using supplier recommended specifications
  • Create BOM's for the panel components, field device components and recommended minimum spares
  • Create, develop, and document PLC programs from scratch for industrial control systems using Ladder Logic
  • Create, and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation and testing, start‑up, and debug systems utilizing documented punch lists and troubleshooting onsite and remotely
  • Program from scratch, Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs for small to large industrial automation projects utilizing AB FactoryTalk View Studio ME software required
  • Develop and implement standard engineering practices including parts sourcing with preferred vendors to leverage pricing agreements, standardizing components and provide detailed documentation
  • Develop Scope of Work (SOW), cost estimates both internally and externally to provide budget estimates
  • Consult with In‑house operations personnel for troubleshooting electrical/programming‑related issues
  • Provide technical support, problem‑solving, maintenance, modifications, and Continuous Improvement using best practices and standards for automated controls systems
  • Provide direct assistance to employees and contractors to train/troubleshoot electrical/programming issues remotely, as well as in the field, and give recommendations for safety, repair, and upgrade to repetitive issues
  • Development of specification and standards for procurement and design of electrical control systems (ECS)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics or the equivalent from a technical school with a minimum of 5 years as a Controls Engineer at the system architect level in a related industry will be considered in lieu of degree
  • At least 10 years’ experience in controls and automation
  • This is an onsite and in office role
  • Experience with Rockwell Software Studio5000 and Factory Talk View
  • Must have strong ability to diagnose symptoms to component level and determine root cause with or without input
  • Proficient in commissioning conveyor parcel scanner systems using Sick, Cognex, Keyence, and Datalogic systems
  • Proven electrical troubleshooting skills both remotely and on‑site
  • Experience interfacing with Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) for integration to the control systems and in‑house IT supported Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems protocol, (TCP/IP, Ethernet IP, Devicenet, Control‑Net, Profibus, IO‑Link etc.) network topology/controls, and networking principles
  • Be able to troubleshoot and repair utilizing the above communication protocols effectively, (planning networks utilizing Ethernet mapping, scheduling a ControlNet network and commissioning a Devicenet node)
  • Proficient at setting up and commissioning both line scanners and vision‑based bar code reader systems using SICK, Cognex, Keyence, Datalogic or other systems from detailed drawing schematics
  • Ability to use OEM supplied drawing for complex equipment to integrate both controls and safety with existing or new equipment as needed
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel (15% yearly and up to 25% as needed)
  • Understanding of power distribution
  • Ability to train other engineers and technicians
  • Knowledge of ARC Flash safety requirements and NFPA 7OE
  • Knowledge of NEC
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards

  • Experience with at least 1 other PLC platform (Siemens, Omron, Wago, Beijer, GE, Beckhoff ect.)
  • Proficient integrating In‑Motion Check weighing systems (Cubiscan, Wipotec, Mettler Toledo)
  • Experience with RSLogix500, Connected Components Workbench, PowerFlex 800,700,520,40,4 series
  • Proficient with Autodesk AutoCAD LT required, AutoCAD Electrical
  • Experience using SCADA/HMI software ex: FactoryTalk View SE, Wonderware, or Ignition
  • Strong background in working with Electrical and Instrumentation Controls (EIC) in medium to heavy manufacturing or warehouse distribution environment
