Associate Attorney
We are seeking a detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to work across a diverse range of practice areas, including civil litigation in state and federal courts, the representation members of the State Police Association of Massachusetts, administrative hearings, internal affairs interviews, civil rights litigation, civil service matters, before the Civil Service Commission, appeals to the POST Commission, Chapter 93A consumer protection claims, labor and employment matters, and personal injury cases.
The ideal candidate is a motivated attorney with strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills who thrives in a collaborative environment. This role provides meaningful client interaction, courtroom experience, and the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple areas of practice while working closely with experienced attorneys.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent individuals and organizations in civil litigation, administrative proceedings, and personal injury matters.
- Assist in the representation of the members of the State Police Association of Massachusetts, including matters involving disciplinary proceedings, internal affairs interviews, trial board hearings and appeals to the Civil Service Commission and civil rights cases in federal and state courts.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and appellate briefs, in state and federal courts.
- Prepare cases for litigation matters, including hearings, mediations, depositions, arbitrations, and trial.
- Attend court appearances, administrative hearings, and settlement conferences.
- Negotiate and advocate effectively on behalf of clients.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, administrative agencies, and courts.
- Manage case files, deadlines, and legal documentation with exceptional attention to detail.
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to develop litigation strategy and achieve successful client outcomes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Massachusetts with 2-4 years of experience.
- Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced litigation environment.
- Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
- Experience in litigation, personal injury, administrative law, civil rights, or consumer protection is preferred.
