What is a virtual attorney?

A Virtual Attorney is a licensed lawyer who provides legal services to clients remotely, often using digital communication tools like email, video calls, and secure document-sharing platforms. This allows clients to receive legal advice and representation without needing to visit a physical office. Virtual attorneys can handle a wide range of legal matters, including contract review, legal consultations, and even court representation in some cases. They offer flexibility and convenience, making legal services more accessible and cost-effective.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a virtual attorney?

To thrive as a Virtual Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor degree, bar licensure, and strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills. Familiarity with digital case management platforms, secure communication tools, and e-filing systems is typically required. Excellent time management, self-motivation, and clear virtual communication are essential soft skills for remote client representation. These competencies ensure effective, compliant legal service delivery and foster trust with clients in a virtual environment.

How does a virtual attorney typically collaborate with clients and colleagues remotely?

Virtual attorneys primarily use secure digital tools—such as video conferencing, encrypted email, and cloud-based document management platforms—to communicate and collaborate. Regular virtual meetings and collaborative documents are common, and many firms use client portals to facilitate secure document sharing and case updates. While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and stay responsive. Building rapport and trust virtually can be a challenge, but proactive communication and clear expectations help foster strong professional relationships.

Job description

Attorney

If you are a Attorney with commercial/real estate litigation experience please read on!

We support the straightforward yet effective principle of prioritizing the needs of our clients. Additionally, we think that every single client is unique, with particular priorities, values, and situations. We are dedicated to applying our legal knowledge in a way that best suits each client's unique circumstances and is contextual.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Attorney with strong commercial law experience to provide practical, business-focused legal advice and representation. The successful candidate will support transactional and advisory matters, manage commercial contracts and agreements, and work closely with clients and internal teams to mitigate risk and achieve client objectives. Experience in real estate transactions, litigation support, and broader legal practice is a plus.
Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on commercial contracts, transactions, and compliance issues, delivering clear, actionable legal guidance tied to business objectives.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including service agreements, NDAs, vendor and supplier contracts, licensing and distribution agreements.
  • Conduct due diligence and legal research for transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and commercial arrangements; identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
  • Support or manage real estate matters and conveyancing-related documentation where applicable (nice-to-have experience).
  • Provide litigation support when needed: prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and coordinate with external counsel for disputes and court proceedings.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (sales, finance, operations) to structure deals, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement legal risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage multiple matters and client relationships, maintain accurate matter files, and communicate status and strategy clearly to stakeholders.
  • Stay current with relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments to proactively advise clients and update precedents and templates.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in the relevant jurisdiction and in good standing.
  • Proven experience as an Attorney focusing on commercial law, with a minimum of 3+ years of transactional or advisory practice (exact experience requirements may vary by level).
  • Demonstrated skill in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and handling complex commercial matters.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and legal research abilities; comfortable translating legal issues into practical business solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven client-facing experience.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with real estate transactions, prior litigation experience, familiarity with corporate law, regulatory compliance, and use of legal technology and document management systems.
