Associate Attorney Civil Litigation Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Civil Litigation Attorney to join our litigation team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse civil litigation caseload, develop and execute litigation strategies, advocate for clients in state and federal courts, and drive positive case outcomes through thorough legal analysis, negotiation, and courtroom representation. This role requires strong litigation experience, excellent writing and advocacy skills, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and clients to achieve practical, cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a full civil litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including appeals when needed.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials; advocate effectively for clients in court and during alternative dispute resolution.
  • Develop case strategies, evaluate risks and options, and advise clients on litigation posture, settlement alternatives, and potential outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff; delegate tasks and review work for accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinate with experts, vendors, and outside counsel; manage evidence, exhibits, and trial logistics.
  • Manage case budgets, billing, and client communications; ensure timely calendaring of deadlines and compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Participate in business development, client intake, and community outreach to support the growth of the practice.
  • Use case management and litigation support software to organize documents, track deadlines, and maintain client files.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of civil litigation experience in state and/or federal courts; experience as lead counsel on motion practice and trials preferred.
  • Proven experience in civil litigation, demonstrating strong litigation, legal research, and writing skills.
  • Courtroom experience, including depositions and trial advocacy; comfort handling hearings and mediations independently.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable settlements and resolutions.
  • Strong client management and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and manage client expectations.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with litigation technology, e-discovery tools, and case management software.
  • Professionalism, integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to ethical practice.
