Job description

Artisan Partners seeks a highly motivated, intellectually curious Senior Research Associate / Associate Analyst to join the EMsights Capital Group, the firm's autonomous investment team. The team invests long and short across global debt and equity securities with a focus on emerging and frontier markets.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is interested in researching companies in emerging, frontier and developed markets and developing skills to analyze public and private investments.
The individual will work side by side with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders to help them understand the issues driving company valuations. Research Associates contribute to the team's investment process as they perform research into daily news events, build and maintain financial models, and interact with company management and industry experts for companies around the world. They will also be expected to conduct in-depth analysis into industry fundamentals, supply and demand, governance quality, as well as social issues and environmental concerns of their companies.
As experience is gained, the individual will be given opportunities to deepen their exposure to the idea generation and investment management processes and interact with various team members to fully explore the various roles required to manage investment portfolios.
Attendance at industry conferences and travel to visit companies under coverage will be required.
Location: Boston, MA
Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000
Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual's geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon Firm and individual performance.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
  • Conduct detailed analysis across the capital structure of firms
  • Help screen for debt and equity investment opportunities in public and private markets
  • Evaluate a firm's business model, its competitiveness within an industry, and the industry's long-term health and viability
  • Actively monitor existing portfolio assets
  • Manage processes related to investments in private securities and restructurings
  • Foster and maintain relationships with company management
  • Collaborate with team members responsible for both corporate and sovereign analysis
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • 1-5 years of investment management, investment banking, consulting or relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated interest in investing, economics, finance, politics, and/or international affairs
  • Experience in financial modeling and capital structure analysis
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and exposure/interest in coding in Python, R or another language
  • Foreign language skills and/or experience living, studying or working abroad, particularly in EMEA or Asia
  • Strong communication skills, excellent work ethic, and a continued desire to learn
  • Ability and desire to work rigorously in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment
  • Bachelor's degree with strong academic record
