The Associate Application Engineer evaluates design requests and assists in the preliminary designs and costing of water and wastewater treatment equipment. Performs bench-scale testing. Monitors data and reports findings for pilot studies in coordination with other departments. Provides technical assistance to internal and external customers including Consulting Engineers, End Users, Plant Operators, Sales Representatives, Cost Estimating, and Customer Service.

This position will be onsite at Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. in Loves Park, IL, with up to 30% travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate design requests and size equipment for water and wastewater treatment. Make recommendations suitable for the requested application.
  • Develop preliminary process design reports for biological and filtration treatment systems.
  • Determine electrical and mechanical equipment costs for preliminary process designs.
  • Perform bench-scale filtration testing.
  • Manage pilot data collection and interpretation to prepare meaningful statistical evaluations, graphs, tabulations and accessibility by other internal departments.
  • Create effective written reports to convey findings and conclusions of bench-scale and pilot testing to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical assistance to Internal and External clients including Consulting Engineers, End Users, Plant Operators, Sales Representatives, Sales Cost Estimating, and Customer Service.
  • Travel to give technical presentationsand provide technical assistance to existing and potential customers.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Usual office working conditions with moderate noise such as computers and printers, telephones and co-workers. Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, odor, dust, heat, cold or chemicals. Occasional travel to treatment plants in various locations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Technical field plus a minimum of 1 year of related training and experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Must possess a strong process related background with proficient technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess basic mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • EIT, is a plus.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $72,000 Annually
