Job Title: Senior Application Programmer โ€“ Mainframe Systems
Location: Downey, CA (Hybrid )
Duration: 12 Months Contract

Pay range: $70 to $80 per hour (DOE)
Job Description:
  • Lead the design, development, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of complex mainframe applications and software systems.
  • Analyze business and system requirements and translate them into technical specifications, application prototypes, and software solutions.
  • Design and develop scalable application architectures, system components, user interfaces, and output formats.
  • Write, debug, maintain, and optimize application code to ensure system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to validate requirements, conduct testing, and ensure successful application deployment.
  • Integrate hardware and software components while ensuring system functionality, quality, and performance standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, program specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to improve application performance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with information security, information assurance, and organizational governance policies.
ย Technical Skills:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • 7+ years of experience in mainframe systems design, development, programming, and support.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with IMS, DB2, COBOL, and CICS programming in an enterprise mainframe environment.
  • Strong experience with Mainframe Application Development using COBOL, IMS, DB2, CICS, and JCL.
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), systems analysis, application architecture, and design methodologies.
  • Experience with database design, data modeling, transaction processing, and data management principles.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering concepts including scalability, reliability, maintainability, and supportability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and management.
