  • Assist with reporting, data gathering, and day-to-day accounting operations across the team

Salary Range: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Summary:ย 

This is a temporary accounting specialist role, it can be full-time or part-time hours and will last between 3-6 months.ย ย ย  This position provides essential support to the Accounting team by assisting with a variety of daily operations, reconciliations and general ledger maintenance. This position also supports administrative functions for the department.

ย Essential Functions:

  • Help with daily and monthly reconciliations, gather documentation, pull reports out of the Core system.
  • Prepare various accounting entries to the general ledger, analyze GL entries, balance, and verify GL accounts on a daily, monthly, and/or quarterly basis.ย 
  • Scan, label, and file documents.ย 
  • Prepare reports and maintain documentation for regulatory, audit, and for other internal and external purposes.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with established Credit Union policies and are legally compliant.
  • Perform miscellaneous requests and other duties as assigned to assist others within the department. Respond to email and phone inquiries, file, fax, and mail information.
  • Maintain the Credit Unionโ€™s professional reputation throughout all communications. Maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualificationsย 

Education:

  • Associate degree in accounting or finance or related field, or equivalent work experience within accounting.ย 
  • Experience working in a credit union or financial institution preferred.ย 

ย Skills:ย 

  • Must understand debits/credits, accounting functions and working within a general ledger system. Basic excel skills required, advanced excel skills preferred.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Good administrative skillsย 

  • Must have basic business mathematical skills.

  • Ability to learn and operate software specific to the credit unionโ€™s accounting systems and member account information.ย 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.ย 

  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

ย 

This position is in office and requires sitting for extended periods of time and working primarily at a workstation or desk in an open office environment. Daily tasks include extensive use of a computer performing standard keyboard functions, requiring repeated motion. Some occasional light lifting of up to 10 lbs.ย ย Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
