We are looking for a knowledgeable accounting professional with experience in bank & general ledger reconciliation. The ideal candidate has experience using various accounting softwareโ€™s such as Business Central and possesses knowledge of Microsoftโ€™s suite of products including intermediate level excel skills.

Job Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the overall financial reporting for multiple retail operations. This role reports to the Controller. They are goal oriented, and deadline driven; consistently keeping daily weekly and monthly accounting timelines on schedule. They accomplish profitability by exercising attention to detail and following the proper processes and policies to maintain accurate financial reports. The Staff Accountant possesses strong communication skills to support an effective relationship between accounting and operations.

Responsibilities

Overall duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow company processes, controls, and policies.
  • Process daily merchant credit card payment batches
  • Reconcile monthly bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month end processing entries
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
  • Assist with annual CPA financial review
  • Reconcile & pay Business License & Personal Property Taxes
  • Work directly with operations to ensure proper financial transactions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required to support internal associates and resolve issues
  • Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, including facilities, and colleagues.
  • Ensure company policies, processes, and procedures are clearly defined, updated, and documented
Education & Skills

Required

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Prior accounting experience
  • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in a large accounting department
  • Strong organization skills.ย  Ability to multi-task, meet firm deadlines, proactively prioritize needs, and effectively manage prioritiesย for multiple businesses/subsidiaries on a concurrent basis

Preferred

  • Experience in automotive accounting
  • Experience with NetSuite or Business Central; ERP system is preferred
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience; bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation
