Starting Date: August 24, 2026
Carroll University seeks a Clinical Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies for its innovative Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program. In addition to traditional Physician Assistant studies, the program is dedicated to developing students' competency to serve medically underserved populations and facilitate interprofessional healthcare practice. Candidates who are innovative and value a dynamic and comprehensive approach to curriculum, instruction, and physician assistant practice are encouraged to apply. This is a 12-month, full time position.
Qualifications: Carroll University (www.carrollu.edu) invites applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. Candidates will:
โ€ข Be an NCCPA board certified physician assistant
โ€ข Hold a terminal degree in physician assistant studies (MSPAS or MPAS)
โ€ข Hold current physician assistant licensure or be eligible for licensure
โ€ข Possess a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience-primary care experience preferred
โ€ข Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
โ€ข Proficiency with on-line student tracking systems and test question data banks is desired
Responsibilities: The clinical faculty line support teaching, scholarship and professional activity, and service. This position is focused on supporting the clinical education component of the program, the candidate may be asked to participate in didactic teaching dependent on program needs. The position reports to the Program Director and works under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Program's clinical curriculum and supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs). Duties include but not limited to:
โ€ข Recruit, develop, and maintain clinical year rotation sites.
โ€ข Coordinate student placements.
โ€ข Perform site visits to evaluate as part of their ongoing assessment.
โ€ข Evaluate and track student performance, progression, and provide remedial instruction when necessary.
โ€ข Assist with activities and assessments such as End of Rotation Exams, OSCEs, workshops, and simulations.
โ€ข Didactic teaching dependent on program needs and candidate expertise/interest
โ€ข Attend faculty program and department committee meetings, participate in service, scholarship, and professional development.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional activity and service may include, but is not limited to, university committees, programmatic projects, academic advising, admissions support, clinical practice within our program at the Waukesha Free Clinic at Carroll University, serving as a preceptor to our students. Rank and Salary: This is a clinical faculty track position at the rank of clinical assistant professor. Salary is commensurate with experience.
The Program: The Physician Assistant Studies Program educates physician assistants to provide comprehensive quality health care to all, to be respectful of patient values, to be committed to ethical principles, and to be grounded in evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning. Graduates contribute to both their profession and their communities and are prepared to practice medicine in a variety of primary care settings. Graduates are prepared to provide service to medically underserved communities and diverse patient populations. Carroll University has developed a partnership with the Waukesha Free Clinic located at the Carroll University Community Health Services building where our PA students have the exclusive privileges. The MSPAS program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) providing education to 32 students/year. The program has a strong commitment to inter-disciplinary team building and faculty include PA-Cs, PhDs, and MDs. The program is moving to the new 61,000 sq. ft. interdisciplinary College of Health Science building on Carroll's main campus in the fall of 2026. The facility includes a dedicated Physician Assistant teaching wing which includes didactic teaching space, 10 private simulation exam rooms, 2 hospital simulation rooms, faculty offices, and student and faculty lounge spaces. In addition, the program utilizes the Michael and Mary Jaharis Laboratories for its cadaver lab and Anatomage Dissection table.
The College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments- Athletic Training, Human Movement Sciences, Interprofessional Studies, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies. Health sciences account for ~60% of the University enrollment. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities. A dynamic and growing entity, College wide foci include interprofessional education and practice, the integrated approach to health, innovative learning and healthcare technologies, community partnerships and service to medically underserved populations. The new interdisciplinary, 61,000 sq. ft., College of Health Science building, opening in the fall of 2026, provides state of the art teaching, simulation, and patient treatment spaces. This building houses our graduate Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Pathologist Assistant, and Physician Assistant programs. While the 55,000 sq. ft. Center for Graduate Studies houses our graduate Athletic Training and Doctor of Physical Therapy Programs, and the Hastad and Henke facilities support Nursing. The Carroll University Community Health Services building expands education opportunities, while providing valuable pro bono services for the local community. The College supports the interdisciplinary nature of health science education and has received federal and private foundation grant awards to support these as well as program specific initiatives.
