Compensation and Benefits:

Job Summary: 

The Lift Maintenance Technician, Level 1 is primarily responsible for ski lift maintenance, both 
preventative and unscheduled, while working closely with all mountain operation teams. This is a 
challenging position in an outside environment that typically includes the use of snowmobiles and ATV's, 
climbing ski lift towers and servicing on-mountain infrastructure in all weather conditions.  

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Monitor and assist in maintaining all lift equipment to ensure safe operation as per in-house 
  • SOP’s and ANSI B77.1 Passenger Tramway Code 
  • Diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance on all ski lift systems and equipment efficiently and 
  • effectively 
  • Attend all necessary training pertaining to the job, including the Vermont Tramway 
  • Apprenticeship program 
  • Maintain all required record keeping and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner 
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and shop work areas 
  • Assist in training new technicians and lift operations staff as needed 
  • Promote and adhere to all safety requirements as set forth by in-house SOP’s and OSHA 
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills 
  • Always provide superior service to our customers. Follow the Resort Etiquette Guidelines while 
  • interacting with the guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Basic Requirements: 

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • High school Diploma, formal mechanical training is preferred 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ski lift operation and controls 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. frequently and up to 100lbs. occasionally 
  • Must be able to bend, squat, climb, twist, and reach above shoulder level frequently 
  • Must be able to use hands for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation in repair of 
  • machinery 
  • Ability to climb and work at heights of up to 100 feet demonstrating proper climbing techniques 
  • with fall protection equipment 
  • General mechanical tool use, including power and hand tools 
  • Comfortable working in extreme mountain weather conditions for extended periods 
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation, time tracking and interdepartmental 
  • communication 
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work assignments 
  • Ability to commit to working weekends and holidays 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and guest service skills 
     

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Prior lift maintenance experience through an apprenticeship role or training 
  • Active enrollment/completion of Level 1 Vermont Tramway Apprenticeship 
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and skills relevant to passenger ropeways, including planned and 
  • unplanned maintenance processes 
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, rigging, diesel maintenance, and PLC control systems 
  • Familiarity with snowmobiles, ATV/UTV, and heavy equipment safety
