POSITION SUMMARY

As an Assistant Project Manager reporting to a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager pending assignment, you will support the Project team throughout the entire construction process, work harmoniously with an assigned Project Manager, field personnel, and office staff, and focus on a high degree of customer service. To excel in this role, you will have excellent communication, networking, relationship building, and time management skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Assist in the maintenance of job file system, which include files for individual subcontractors, vendors, projects, change orders, etc.
  • Assist Project Manager in developing and updating project schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining subcontractor's payment files as needed. (This includes maintaining folders by subcontractor/ vendors within a project supporting subcontractor/vendor payments.)
  • Assist Project Manager in the review and processing of shop drawing submittals.
  • Aid in reviewing and pricing cost impact of construction document revisions on projects.
  • Order and issue construction drawings and specifications as required for distribution.
  • Assist Project Manager to obtain and prepare project closeout documents.
  • Interface with Superintendents and perform job site inspections to review status as it relates to construction schedule and document requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining and preparing appropriate cost control, project documents and reports (i.e. JCA, RFI log, shop drawing log, etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly application for payment for submission to the owner/client.
  • Continuously learn all aspects of the construction field including systems, procedures, means and methods, computer programs, management techniques, code changes, etc.
  • Prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Jonas Premier and Microsoft Project. *Training will be made available for Computer software.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, client service attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Lean Construction Practices is a plus.
  • Knowledge of file management, transcription, and other administrative procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Occasional travel may be required as projects are being executed regionally.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred BS in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of construction experience.
  • Pharmaceutical, energy/chemical or manufacturing experience (or similar) preferred.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Eligible to work in the Unites States.
  • Must be a team player.
  • When driving on company business, a clean driving record, valid driver's license, properly maintained employee-owned vehicle with the state minimum mandated levels of auto liability insurance are required as a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Assistant Project Manager is required to sit for long periods of time and is occasionally required to stand; walking within a 400-acre campus; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Assistant Project Managers are required to speak clearly so listeners can understand and hear clearly to understand the speech of another person. In this role and employee may also occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Client site pending, work environments can involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
