The Senior Pension Administration Consultant is responsible for leading operational performance for assigned clients and is expected to meet and exceed established contractual performance standards and operational metrics. This role coordinates the timely completion of all work in progress and ensures that quality meets both client and member expectations.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and project management, as well as capacity and utilization management, task delegation to achieve objectives, and monitoring the status of ongoing work. The incumbent is responsible for identifying operational improvements that will drive year-over-year efficiency gains for their client group.
This position also serves as a resource for clients, administrators, and all internal centralized support units that support day-to-day operations. The role manages written and verbal client communications. It also facilitates meetings and leads ad hoc discussions. Sometimes, it serves as the primary client contact.

  • Develop, maintain and implement a clear project management plan for defining the processes and procedures for how the project will be planned, delivered and controlled.
  • Manage and negotiate budget and related resource time with leadership to establish a baseline.
  • Lead and coordinate with the project partners to define project scope, results, schedules, budgets, and quality measures in alignment with the sales contract and statement of work.
  • Develop a coordinated project timeline encompassing the full project scope to efficiently achieve results with the involvement of the client, project team, and leadership.
  • Establish a project communication and governance framework to deliver clear, consistent, and accurate progress reports regularly to different client and internal team members.
  • Work with the client to review schedules, status updates, problems, and plans to align, understand their requirements, and ensure successful resolution.
  • Anticipate potential issues and ensure timely mitigation plans are developed and reviewed with the required project team members.
  • Recognize differences, collaborate with subject matter experts to develop suggested corrective action plans, and promptly raise project variation to guarantee projects remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Control scope by implementing and monitoring a change control process and providing mentorship to the team on the impacts of scope creep.
  • Drive improvement in execution initiatives within the project management domain. Bring together lessons learned throughout and during the closing of a project.
  • Adhere to the project manager's approach to maintain consistency across all implementation projects.

How this opportunity is different

Our highly collaborative team drives innovation through creative thinking and the implementation of solutions that enhance the digital experience for members while improving internal operational efficiency.

You will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that are redefining pension administration services in Canada, including large-scale initiatives with exposure to Steering Committees (SteerCos) and executive dashboards.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

The Project Manager demonstrates a high degree of autonomy: they structure and manage their work independently without close supervision, proactively identify and communicate obstacles and schedule variances, provide realistic estimates that they consistently meet, and take full ownership of delivering work to the expected quality standards while adapting quickly to evolving priorities and audiences.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Project Management, Business Administration, Mathematics, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PMP certification or a project management certification/designation of similar standing.
  • 7+ years of proven experience managing implementation, transformation, or complex solution delivery projects, including delivery to external clients, client governance, and executive reporting.
  • Experience leading client-facing implementation projects in a consulting, professional services, or outsourced service delivery environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to quickly and independently learn a new area of expertise (e.g., pension plan administration).
  • Relevant experience in pension administration is considered a strong asset.
  • Microsoft Excel – Advanced level
  • Smartsheet – Advanced level
  • SharePoint: site architecture, document libraries, document management, version control, and permissions management.
  • Microsoft Teams, executive-level PowerPoint, Power Automate (asset), and Copilot and other AI tools for productivity.
  • Familiarity with MS Project or another traditional project scheduling tool is an asset.
  • Ability to establish and coordinate their own work framework. They take the initiative to build logs, schedules, and checkpoints without prompting. They proactively communicate progress and call out issues early when roadblocks arise.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, competing priorities, and changing client demands while maintaining governance, quality, and delivery commitments
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in persuasion, influence, and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated capability to influence indirect collaborators and shared services functions to achieve client objectives.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decisiveness in uncertain situations, encouraging collaboration and bringing to bear the strengths of team members.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Preparation of executive-level deliverables and client communications.
  • French / English bilingualism is required due to the frequent interactions with clients, colleagues, or partners based in Quebec, other Canadian provinces and/or internationally.
