What would you be doing?

  • Leading by example - using your training to perform rescues in and around the pool
  • Assisting in preparation of the swim team area for workout
  • Assisting with appropriate stretching and warm-up/cool-down activities
  • Assisting with maintaining safety and discipline during workouts and meets
  • Assisting in responding to the individual needs of participants
  • Assisting in providing a variety of demonstration, explanation, and practice and skill correction during each workout
  • Assisting in effective communication with athletes and parents in a friendly manner and providing appropriate encouragement
  • Teaching swimming lessons according the YMCA Swim Lessons curriculum
  • Being a positive role model for youths in your community
  • Upholding the YMCA Policies and Standards
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must have 2 years of experience in competitive swimming
  • Must have a minimum of current CPR/First Aid OR Lifeguard Certification
  • Maintains a current Safety Training for Swim Coaches Certification (or Lifeguard Certification)
  • Must possess YMCA of the USA Coaches Certification and USA Swimming Certification (or achieve within 30 days)
  • Must pass YMCA and USA Swimming background checks
