Join Our Team as an Assistant Swim Coach!
Are you passionate about swimming, mentoring young athletes, and helping swimmers reach their full potential? The Dundee Township Park District is looking for an energetic and dedicated Assistant Swim Coach to help lead the Dundee Dolphins Swim Team. This is a rewarding opportunity to develop athletes' swimming skills, promote teamwork, and make a positive impact in the community.
What You'll Do
As an Assistant Swim Coach, you'll:
  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting swim team practices.
  • Teach and develop competitive swimming skills, including strokes, starts, turns, and race strategies.
  • Help create a positive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Attend swim meets and support swimmers during competitions as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assist with scheduling practices, makeup sessions, and swim meet activities.
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, and staff regarding team activities and expectations.
  • Support the daily operations of the swim team program.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized aquatic facility.
  • Ensure participant safety and assist during emergencies when needed.
  • Represent the Dundee Township Park District's Mission by providing exceptional service and creating a positive experience for all participants.

Who You Are
You're an enthusiastic and knowledgeable swim coach with:
  • Experience participating in or coaching competitive swimming programs.
  • Knowledge of competitive swimming strokes, techniques, starts, and turns.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • The ability to motivate and encourage swimmers of various ages and skill levels.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in fast-paced situations.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • The ability to swim 200 yards continuously.
  • The ability to tread water for two minutes.
  • The ability to retrieve a 10-pound brick from a depth of 12 feet.
  • A valid Illinois Driver's License.
  • Current USA Swimming and/or ISI certifications are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous swim team coaching experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques and training principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Minimum age: 15 years old.
    Note: A valid work permit is required for applicants under 16 years of age.

Schedule
  • Hours vary based on swim team practices, meets, and special events.
  • Typical hours may range from mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Seasonal position with flexibility required during the swim team season.
  • Additional hours may be available during swim meets, team events, and program activities.
