Job description

Position Title: Facilities Assistant
Reporting Department: Facilities
Reporting Supervisor: Facilities Manager or Facilities Supervisor
Location: Main Building
Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time
Organizational Function: Front Line
PURPOSE:
Ensure the cleanliness of all buildings across Minnetristaโ€™s 40-acre campus. Facilities include a 40,000 sq. ft. museum building, historic buildings, and additional staff/public buildings. Handle set-up and tear-down for internal and external events in collaboration with other staff and departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; custodial experience preferred.
  • Show strong interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail and a very good sense of urgency and priority.
  • Demonstrate ability to work alone or in a group setting with others, regardless of age or background.
  • Be self-motivated and able to follow directions accurately.
To be successful in this position, an individual must be aligned with Minnetristaโ€™s cultural values and visitor-centric focus. The incumbent ensures effective working relationships by cultivating and maintaining professional credibility with all staff, administration, and volunteers. The individual demonstrates maturity, sound judgment, positive attitude, and works collaboratively with peers and colleagues throughout the organization and community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out job function through completing the following essential duties directly or through subordinate personnel.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure buildings are cleaned to a high standard, including trash removal, bathroom cleaning, light and medium-duty cleaning regularly, and deep cleaning as required.
  • Complete timely and accurate set-ups, flips, and teardowns using diagrams provided; communicate with Facilities Manager, Facilities Supervisor, other Facilities Assistants, and other staff.
  • Set up and troubleshoot A/V equipment in consultation with the Facilities Manager or Supervisor.
  • Assist staff from all departments in the moving of oversized items.
  • Open and close all buildings and gated outdoor spaces. Secure and lock all buildings and outdoor spaces upon closure and arm security systems where applicable.
  • Perform all other duties required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed, including various shifts over seven-day/week operations.
Physical requirements including working outside in different types of weather conditions, as well as standing, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, crawling, and crouching at any given time. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more. Possibility of some exposure to hazards and moderate-to-high noise levels. Must be able to move about 40-acre main campus. A valid driverโ€™s license is required.
