For more than 45 years, we have built projects throughout Florida in hospitality, multifamily, industrial, healthcare, and public-sector markets.

Our work is guided by our GRIT values-Growth, Resourcefulness, Integrity, and Teamwork-and a culture built on doing right by our people, trade partners, and clients.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in the day-to-day management of active construction projects, helping coordinate field operations, safety, quality, and scheduling. This role serves as the entry point into Hedrick Brothers' field leadership career path and provides hands-on experience leading projects alongside experienced construction professionals.

You will spend most of your time on project sites assisting with trade partner coordination, documentation, quality control, and safety while developing the skills needed to independently manage future projects.

  • Assist in preparing RFIs and communicating questions to the project team.
  • Support manpower planning and identify potential schedule impacts.

DOCUMENTATION & QUALITY CONTROL

  • Maintain organized project records, logs, drawings, sign-in sheets, labor reports, and material tracking.
  • Inspect work in place to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and project standards.
  • Support change order documentation, pricing requests, and delay notifications.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and punch list activities.

SAFETY LEADERSHIP

  • Champion Hedrick Brothers' safety culture and OSHA compliance.
  • Conduct and document toolbox talks and jobsite safety inspections.
  • Maintain SDS files, safety signage, emergency contacts, first-aid supplies, fire extinguishers, and PPE inventories.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to identify and correct hazards.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up activities when necessary.

WHAT YOU BRING

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-4 years of commercial construction field experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of commercial construction methods and CSI MasterFormat divisions.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • AGC Supervisory Training Program (STP) completed or willingness to complete.
  • Valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, and construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using construction layout equipment, including laser levels or total stations, preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow into a field leadership role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is performed primarily on active construction sites and may involve exposure to weather, heat, cold, noise, dust, machinery, and other jobsite conditions. Team members must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Profit sharing and bonus opportunities tied to company and project performance
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Company-paid life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
