POSITION SUMMARY

MGS is seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) to support the 125th Special Tactics Squadron (STS) Human Performance Program (HPP) in Portland, OR. This is a rare opportunity to apply your expertise at the highest level, working directly alongside Special Operations Forces operators to design and administer evidence-based, mission-specific performance programs that directly enhance operator readiness and resilience. RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

• Establish and administer strength and conditioning protocols to maximize the physical performance of assigned 125 STS operators and combat mission support personnel at home-station, TDY, or deployed locations, functioning across both performance and rehabilitation domains.
• Coordinate with HPP staff on safe, expeditious return-to-training for injured personnel, including pre-habilitation protocols, instruction on exercises and injury avoidance, and testing/evaluation to inform treatment plans.
• Refer personnel with new or undiagnosed medical conditions to a medical provider for evaluation and treatment.
• Participate in and promote interdisciplinary meetings, in-service training, and required training with HPP staff, medical personnel, and the AFSPECWAR HPP enterprise.
• Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to keep HPP programming current; provide input on HPP data collection strategies and report workload data as requested by the Squadron Commander.
• Assist in developing and updating criteria-based job descriptions and performance standards.
• Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and proper working condition of the HPP facility and equipment, including inventory, requisitions, and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain physical proficiency sufficient to demonstrate all prescribed exercises and techniques, including the ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments, observe SOF training evolutions, and lift and manipulate loads up to 20 kilograms.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess and maintain current certification by the NSCA as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCA.
• Must possess current certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, Physical Education, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of post-professional experience developing long- and short-range performance programs for athletes or operators at the NCAA Division I Collegiate, Olympic, professional sports, or Special Operations/AFSPECWAR level, with attributable results.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Certification from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
• Credentials to utilize Bionex medical machines for lumbar, cervical, and torso stabilization.
• Master's degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience performing manual therapy, trigger point dry needling, Graston Technique soft tissue mobilization, and functional taping.
