Summary of Position Functions
The Commercial Solar Technician works to assist the construction and maintenance departments by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on contracted PV systems. The technician will be involved with AC and DC wiring, Device, and PV module installation support to the construction team and commissioning of newly constructed Electrical and Solar generation sites. Additionally, our technicians are trained to service EV charging stations and are part of a growing EV service organization.

Essential Position Functions

  • Performs routine PV maintenance on contracted solar assets.
  • Manages visual & mechanical inspections and repairs.
  • Performs electrical testing including megger, insulation resistance, and PV curve trace.
  • Manages filter replacements, annual inverter maintenance, and PV maintenance.
  • Documents each PM visit with pictures and test results.
  • Manages EV charger repair and documentation of service visits per customer requirements.
  • Performs T&M service calls and emergency service calls.
  • Communicates service jobs to service coordinator.
  • Documents work with pictures & test results (reports to be sent to the client).
  • Maintains the equipment per manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Assists with commissioning, energization of electrical equipment, inverters, and communication equipment.
  • Oversees sub-contractors as needed.

Education and Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; or a minimum of 5 to 10 years on-the-job commercial solar service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a BAT approved Apprenticeship Program or a minimum of 6 years on-the-job electrical/solar service experience required.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical/electronic devices required.
  • Experience in electrical installations in a commercial or industrial environment required.
  • Experience in Solar, Renewable Energy, and EV systems required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
  • Ability to communicate safety plans as needed.
  • Ability to resolve any safety related conflicts with the customer and inside Veregy.
  • Ability to communicate safety related issues to Veregy Management.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
