Job description

Position Title: Asst Shipping Manager-DC

 

Department:   Shipping

 

Supervisor:     Shipping Manager-DC

 

FLSA:              Non-exempt (Paid by the hour)

 

Position Summary:

The Asst Shipping Manager is directly responsible for loading, unloading, completing outbound paperwork and operating power equipment. Safe operations, accurate paperwork and properly loaded trucks are critical to success in the role. This position includes manual labor.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure all trucks are loaded with the proper contents per the manifest.
  2. Works well with peers as part of one team.
  3. Follows all safe operating procedures
  4. Assists in picking and processing orders expediently, accurately and timely, if necessary.
  5. Audits product being picked from stock to ensure order accuracy.
  6. Audits staging lanes to ensure all product is loaded properly per store destination.
  7. Loads outbound trucks to optimal cube and weight
  8. Maintains material handling equipment and communicates malfunctioning machines to management.
  9. Follows program to maintain the cleanliness of the area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, and pulling out pallets and cleaning underneath.
  10. Understands the general function of a warehouse management system (WMS) and can follow work instructions well.
  11. Escalates Warehouse Management System problems and process opportunities to Assistant Branch Manager
  12. Assures that trash is removed from floor and properly discarded including broken pallets, scraps of wood, corrugated, food and others.
  13. Makes sure that low stock/out of stock or other inventory related concerns are communicated to the Inventory Controller
  14. Performs additional duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned.
  15. Supports Distribution Center cleanliness, organization and success.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  1. Minimum 1-year similar experience
  2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors and buyers.
  3. Ability to calculate figures, and amounts such as ti x hi, total cases per pallets and units per case
  4. Computer Literate
  5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  6. Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
  7. Can use the general functions of a warehouse management system.
