Job description

Position Summary
The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports the Foreman in overseeing production processes, inputs/outputs, equipment, procedures, policies, and personnel on the production floor. The role also involves ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained while working effectively with all facility departments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and understand pipe product sizes, types, and specifications.
  • Gain knowledge of assigned production equipment operation.
  • Read and interpret product drawings and specifications.
  • Complete and ensure accuracy of production records, reports, and paperwork.
  • Maintain knowledge of quality standards and correct poor quality issues as needed.
  • Perform and understand tasks assigned to subordinate employees.
  • Study and enforce SOPs to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other facility departments to support production needs.
  • Ensure safety and environmental standards are met and enforce company safety policies.
  • Use established SOPs to train employees effectively.
  • Assist in managing shift schedules, production line changeovers, counts, and specifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Assist with the supervision of 3-10 employees.
  • Support production and safety training for all employees on the shift.
  • Assist in monitoring production line schedules and changeovers.

Qualifications
  • Proficient English language skills: able to read and interpret safety rules, instructions, manuals, and write routine reports.
  • Strong reasoning ability: able to solve problems, adapt to variable situations, and interpret instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong numeracy: able to calculate figures such as percentages, production rates, and work with measurements.
  • Ability to train and support subordinates while ensuring adherence to company standards.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers; able to talk and hear.
