We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Shift Engineer to join our Pier Sixty-Six Resort team!
The Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all hotel facilities during their designated shift. This role demands extensive maintenance knowledge across various systems, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide excellent service to guests with minimal supervision
Responsibilities
  • Promptly respond to all guest repair requests and communicate effectively to resolve issues.
  • Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company and departmental standards, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring all are in top working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and execute basic to mid-level repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems including pumps, motors, and HVAC units.
  • Handle maintenance of electrical systems including replacing switches, outlets, and setting up devices like TVs.
  • Use lockout/tagout procedures to ensure safety during maintenance.
  • Operate, locate, and manage all shut-off valves for equipment and building facilities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including mechanical rooms and any areas affected by maintenance work.
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition parts as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication across shifts regarding daily activities and any problems using approved programs and standards.
  • Visually inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Display proficiency in engineering software related to preventive maintenance and energy management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the engineering spaces such as the mechanical rooms and workshops.
  • Work with outside contractors to facilitate repairs and improvements beyond routine maintenance.
  • Monitor and adjust the performance of the building management systems to ensure efficiency and comfort.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and follow established procedures to minimize risks and damage.
  • Remain adaptable, taking on additional responsibilities as needed to support the department and the hotel's operational needs.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the engineering senior staff.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of experience in luxury hotel or resort engineering maintenance.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment.
  • While certification in a technical trade is not required, such credentials may enhance candidacy and are beneficial.
  • Experience in luxury hotel settings and multilingual abilities.
  • Active drtiving Licence

Work Environment:
  • The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, potentially in variable weather conditions.
  • Exposure to noise, fumes, and hazardous materials, requiring the use of personal protective equipment.
