Job description

Title: AI Risk Management and TEVV Subject Matter ExpertLocation: Gaithersburg, MD
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI Risk Management and Test, Evaluation, Verification, and Validation (TEVV) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the development, implementation, and operationalization of AI risk management frameworks, evaluation methodologies, and governance activities. This role will support AI assurance initiatives, measurement approaches, and the development of guidance and tools aligned with AI risk management best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AI governance, AI evaluation methodologies, and operational AI risk management practices. Experience supporting Federal Government initiatives, particularly with National Institute of Standards and Technology or similar organizations, is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of AI risk management frameworks, methodologies, and governance practices
  • Design and support AI TEVV (Test, Evaluation, Verification, and Validation) strategies and processes
  • Develop guidance, tools, and measurement approaches related to AI assurance and AI system evaluation
  • Conduct assessments of AI systems to evaluate performance, reliability, transparency, and risk considerations
  • Collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership to operationalize AI governance and risk management activities
  • Support development of policies, standards, documentation, and best practices related to trustworthy and responsible AI
  • Assist with identifying and mitigating AI-related operational, technical, and governance risks
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders and leadership
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience supporting AI evaluation planning, measurement approaches, AI assurance activities, or development of AI risk management guidance and tools
  • Within the required experience above, a minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing or operationalizing AI risk management, AI governance, or AI evaluation activities
  • Strong understanding of AI governance, AI lifecycle management, and AI assurance principles
  • Experience supporting AI evaluation frameworks, risk assessments, or validation methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Federal Government programs or initiatives
  • Familiarity with National Institute of Standards and Technology AI frameworks, guidance, or standards
  • Experience supporting trustworthy AI, responsible AI, or compliance-focused AI initiatives
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related field

Qualifications
