Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Trauma Surgery Advanced Practitioner, you will deliver high-acuity patient care within a Level I Trauma Center in Chandler, Arizona. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive medical management to a diverse patient population, encompassing both general surgery and trauma patients. You will be an integral part of a dedicated team, ensuring continuous 24/7 service line coverage through a varied 12-hour shift schedule that includes both day and night rotations. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Every day you will conduct detailed medical histories and physical examinations, proficiently order and interpret diagnostic labs and imaging, and effectively communicate critical information to attending physicians. You'll be instrumental in patient education, counseling individuals on pre- and post-operative care, trauma recovery, and expected outcomes. Furthermore, you'll manage medical documentation via our Electronic Medical Record (EMR), ensuring compliance with all regulatory and health system guidelines for accurate billing. Your responsibilities will extend to routine rounding with residents and students, prescribing medications within your scope, and performing essential bedside procedures, occasionally providing surgical first assistance to attending surgeons.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in Arizona and maintain active hospital privileges. You'll demonstrate an unwavering commitment to continuing medical education (CME), ensuring your medical knowledge and skills remain cutting-edge in the ever-evolving field of trauma surgery. Your exceptional communication and interpersonal skills will be crucial for effective collaboration with the multidisciplinary trauma team and for providing compassionate patient-centered care, all while upholding the highest ethical standards and complying with all applicable laws and regulations.

Required
PA
  • Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
  • Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant
  • Valid DEA registration
  • Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
NP
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
  • Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
  • Compact state or Arizona RN license
  • Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
  • Valid DEA registration
  • Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
