Travel Forestry Technician

Based out of Canonsburg, PA | Travel Required | Must live up to one hour away from Canonsburg

Reports To: Forestry Field Supervisor & Division Manager

Position Overview

Growing Seasons Landscaping (GSL) is hiring a Travel Forestry Technician to support invasive species removal and reforestation projects across multiple states. This is a hands-on, field-based role for individuals who are comfortable working outdoors in rugged environments and traveling for extended periods.

You’ll play a key role in restoring natural habitats through vegetation management, herbicide application, and forestry operations — all while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.

Schedule

  • Monday – Saturday, typically 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM (weather dependent)
  • Occasional Sundays as needed
  • Travel required (extended periods)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform invasive species removal, vegetation management, and site restoration
  • Apply and document herbicides in accordance with regulations
  • Assist with mapping, tracking, and coordination with state/local agencies
  • Support tree planting and reforestation efforts
  • Operate equipment including trimmers, brush hogs, chainsaws, and hand tools
  • Set up and maintain traffic control zones (signage, cones, etc.)
  • Complete physically demanding work in outdoor, uneven, and wooded terrain
  • Assist team members and support project deadlines as needed

Equipment & Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of trucks, trailers, and equipment (interior & exterior)
  • Perform daily fueling, greasing, sharpening, and cleaning
  • Complete pre-trip inspections before operating equipment
  • Keep all tools and equipment in safe, working condition

Qualifications

  • Must be 21+ years old
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in harsh outdoor conditions (heat, cold, rough terrain)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must pass background check and drug screen
