Summary/Objective: Promote the company mission statement by assisting Project Managers, Superintendents, and other personnel in estimating, managing, scheduling, purchasing, and executing various types of construction projects/services.

HarperXS is focused on executing construction projects within active facilities and occupied spaces. It is the expectation of HarperXS that candidates be experienced working within this industry. HarperXS fully expects candidates to be willing to comply with client requirements and educate themselves on the conditions and expectations of working within their facilities.


Essential Functions:

  • Understand, support, and adhere to Harper safety and quality requirements. All employees are responsible for promoting a 'safety first' culture.
  • Enforce Harper's safety and quality programs and correct violations as they arise on project sites. All work is to be planned and executed with safety and quality in mind.
  • Represent Harper in a professional manner on job sites, meetings, trade shows, etc.
  • Assist management staff with daily responsibilities and project duties as tasked.
  • Assist management staff with the development of proposals and/or estimates for future work.
  • Adhere to systems, initiatives, OPLs, near misses, mission statements, etc.
  • Utilize Procore Management Software to its fullest extent for all phases of a construction project.
  • Maintain project files, drawings, schedules in an organized and professional manner.
  • Attend and participate in corporate, division, and project meetings.


Project Planning:

  • Prepare commitments for upcoming work in a timely manner (purchase orders, field service agreements, subcontracts.) Utilize Procore Management software for commitment workflow process.
  • Identify material needs based upon project documents. Perform takeoffs as necessary.
  • Prepare project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Track, receive, and review all necessary submittals. Seek to expedite process at all stages.
    • Compare submittals against project requirements.
    • Keep project manager informed of submittal status and timelines.
    • Hold trade partners and suppliers accountable throughout submittal process.
    • Manage submittal workflow process on Procore Management Software. Distribute submittals to project teammates (clients, engineers, architects, trade partners, suppliers, etc.)
  • Release, track all necessary equipment/materials and inspect upon receipt. Seek to expedite process at all stages.
    • Hold Trade Partners and suppliers accountable throughout the procurement process.
    • Keep Project Manager informed of lead times and anticipated delivery dates.
    • Inspect upon receipt for compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate and schedule Trade Partners as necessary to meet project requirements.
  • Draft project schedules based upon submittals, lead times, and production estimates.
  • Manage RFI workflow process on Procore Management Software.
  • Palletize project specific materials, tools, and equipment. Review project prior to mobilization with Superintendent and identify any last-minute small tool/material needs.


Project Execution:

  • Always represent Harper in a professional manner. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, engineers, and architects.
  • Perform weekly safety inspections on Procore Management Software.
  • Hold Trade Partners, suppliers, and field service providers accountable for performing work and/or delivering materials as scheduled.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Trade Partners and Suppliers. Identify, pursue, and recover fair compensation for all changes in scope.
  • Support field personnel with material/equipment/tool procurement over course of a project.
  • Coordinate and track material purchases, manpower, equipment rentals, and other job-related costs.
  • Attend and facilitate process equipment startup and commissioning activities. Prepare, execute, and store corresponding paperwork appropriately.
  • Oversee spare part / attic stock procurement and transmittal process. Prepare, execute, and store corresponding paperwork appropriately.
  • Prepare and submit expense reports through Expensify Software monthly.
  • Assist Project Manager with the preparation and submittal of change orders and cost analysis.
  • Assist Project Manager with project billing preparations.
  • Review project related invoices for accuracy and code appropriately upon approval.
  • Utilize TimberScan Invoice Management software to review invoices.

Travel Required: Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Little overnight or weekend travel. Valid US driver's license required.

Physical Demands:This position is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned.Weather and climate conditions will vary throughout the progress of a project, and the PE must be able to inspect all ongoing construction activities over the duration of the assigned project. This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Lifting requirements vary from minimal loads to heavy; but help is always available with heavier loads.Inspection for quality, consistency and completeness of work frequently requires climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Three years of related experience required/preferred.
  • Demonstrates understanding of Plans and Specs.
