Position Description
Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers on constructing projects in accordance with the contract, including the financial and non-tangible (such as satisfied customer for repeat business) outcome of the complete project.
Responsibilities
  • Working with Senior Project Managers to perform daily hands on management of projects exceeding $5 million (or multiple smaller projects) while leading daily team activities to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget, with quality workmanship.
  • Job start-up items including billing and labor breakdowns, preliminary job scheduling and establishing equipment needs.
  • Coordinating technical support responsibilities (i.e. valve charts, hanger charges, material submittals, etc.)
  • Project communication with construction manager/GC, subcontractors, vendors, project superintendents, etc.
  • Monitoring the submittal process to assure that it coincides with project requirements.
  • Overall project schedule including manpower forces, subcontractors, and expediting equipment and material deliveries, etc.
  • Monitoring productivity and job performance including reviewing labor reports with project foremen.
  • Handling all project correspondence, including change orders and proper documentation.
  • Assemble requisition on a monthly basis as directed by contractual requirements.
  • Attend monthly work-in progress meeting with corporate management to review financial status of project along with miscellaneous problems encountered on the project.

Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • One year of experience, or an internship, in project management for construction or mechanical engineering projects.
  • Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of technical and administrative aspects of projects including plans, specs, and in-house forms and procedures is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, strong problem solving and analytical skills in evaluating situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.

Working Conditions
  • Office environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
  • Construction site environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.
