PURPOSE:

Assistant Professor of Journalism

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders as well as excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Training in journalism, editing, broadcast and podcast professions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusive and accessible learning environments for diverse populations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

  • Professional experience in broadcast journalism, both radio and television, and podcasting preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, registrations:

  • A record of scholarship and publication or evidence of a productive research agenda.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in professional podcasting preferred.
  • M.A. in Journalism or Mass Communications required.
  • Evidence of experience working with underprepared and diverse student population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
