Primary Purpose of the Organization:
The primary mission of the Dr. Henry M. Eldridge Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is to prepare students, especially those from historically underrepresented groups, to enter careers in mathematics, computer science, technology, engineering, and education, and to continue their education beyond the undergraduate level.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of the position would be to teach undergraduate and graduate computer science courses offered by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science to its majors and to majors from other departments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field, with at least 18 credit hours of computer science courses at the graduate level
  • Record of excellence in teaching, research, and service commensurate with the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of core computer science disciplines such as algorithms, data structures, software engineering, and computer systems.
  • Skill in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate computer science courses using effective instructional methods and technology-enhanced learning tools.
  • Ability to conduct scholarly research, publish in peer-reviewed venues, and pursue external funding opportunities.
  • Skill in mentoring and advising students, including supervising research projects, internships, or capstone work.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities.
