Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), on the Clinician-Scholar track, with an anticipated start date of Summer 2027. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment (3-year term, renewable, if Assistant Professor).
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children's, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, education, and to participate in scholarship at an outstanding academic center, as all University of Washington faculty on the Clinician-Scholar tracks engage in service, teaching, and research. The Division of Neonatology has three primary areas of research focus: bench to bedside neonatal neuroprotection/neuroscience, simulation as an educational and clinical competency tool, and global neonatal-perinatal health. We also have an outstanding ethics program at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics. Candidates will be considered across a range of interests. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, a completed US-accredited pediatric neonatology residency and pediatric neonatology fellowship program, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
The Division of Neonatology has an outstanding fellowship training program, robust clinical/translational and basic research, and provides clinical care at two academic level IV NICUs and several regional level III NICUs. Our mission is to improve the outcome of pregnancy by advancing neonatal scholarship, educating the next generation of neonatal caregivers, and by providing outstanding evidence based neonatal clinical care. All our faculty contribute to this mission.

The base salary range for this position will be Assistant Professor - $12,867 - $19,300 per month ($154,404 - $231,600 annually), Associate Professor - $15,193 - $22,790 per month ($182,316 - $273,480 annually), Full Professors - $19,385 - $29,078 per month ($232,620 - $348,936 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children's University Medical Group practice plan.

Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Neonatology or Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
