Job description

Title: Human Subjects Research Assistant
Location: Redmond, WA
Duration: 12 months
Compensation: $25-$30
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.
Our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. Our team of researchers is evaluating novel interaction techniques and user interfaces to improve human experiences in the augmented world. We are looking for a motivated Research Assistant to join our team and support the human subject research studies we are conducting. The chosen candidates will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. We are specifically looking for candidates with experience in supporting human behavioral experiments.
Responsibilities
Stage, set up, and/or manage equipment and lab spaces to be used for experiments
Conduct experiments which include collection of informed consent, running experiment protocols, handling of confidential data, data annotation, and creation of basic reports
Conduct literature reviews on a wide field of research topics
Assist with recruiting and scheduling of experiment participants
Help with experimental design, documentation, and provide feedback during design
Participate in research study pilots and launched studies with human subjects as necessary
Required Characteristics:
Bachelors or equivalent experience in a closely-related research area
Strong communication, interpersonal and personal management skills
Some experience working in a research/academic environment involving human subjects
Desired Characteristics:
Bachelors in the field of psychology (e.g. neuroscience), cognitive science (e.g., artificial intelligence), computer science (e.g., human-computer interaction), engineering (e.g., human-factors), or a closely-related research area
Experience analyzing data and/or designing research protocols
Experience collecting user interaction data and working with related technical equipment (e.g., inertial sensing with IMUs, optical sensing, EMG).
Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
1. Participant Engagement in a Human Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Research (UXR) or other Human Subjects Research (HSR) environment.
2. Research Literature Review
3. Data entry/Database management
Good to have skills:
1. Some coding/scripting: Python, Matlab, SQL
2. Biosignal data collection: wet/dry EEG, EMG EKG, fMRI, etc.

administer informed consent
execute data collection protocols in lab
log sessions
clean up/analyze data
