Clinical Assistant Professor (Day Shifts) - Dallas, Texas

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine is recruiting Academic Hospitalists to join our esteemed faculty in the Division of Hospital Medicine. This is a full-time faculty position with day shifts only, offers a unique opportunity to practice in a vibrant setting at one of the nation's leading academic institutions.

We seek candidates with a minimum of 2 years post-residency experience, showcasing a solid foundation for clinical care and a proven commitment to excellence in teaching.

Our hospitalists provide direct patient care while playing a critical role in teaching and mentoring the next generation of physicians, including residents and medical students.

The successful candidate will enter at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor (Clinician Track) or Assistant Professor (Clinician Educator Track) and will have the opportunity to work with highly complex cases, contribute to a multidisciplinary care team, and actively engage in scholarly activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide exceptional clinical care to a high-complexity patient population on med-surg level units

Teach and mentor internal medicine residents and medical students

Collaborate with advanced practice providers in a shared visit model during some weeks

Work approximately 12 months of the year on general ward services as a day admitter/triager

No admitting responsibilities while on ward services (very rare exceptions to provide back-up admitting support)

No procedures and closed ICUs

Schedule:

175 shifts per year

7 days on/7 days off, with 12-hour shifts - exception, when attending on internal medicine teaching wards

Guarantee of either Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day off every year

No night pager call

Qualifications:

MD or DO degree, or foreign equivalent, from an accredited institution

Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Internal Medicine

Unrestricted Texas medical licensure

Commitment to participation in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and other scholarly activities
