Job description

Position: Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Reports to: Division Chair Classification:

Exempt Core Responsibilities: Teaching 12 credit hours and academic advising. Lane College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry to teach General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and/or Quantitative Analysis

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching 12 credit hours each semester.
  • Advising.
  • Participating in department activities.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high- stress situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • The Chemistry Department emphasizes using active-learning to create an inclusive environment for a diverse student body.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctorate in Chemistry is preferred.
  • Candidates with a Master's degree and 18 credit hours in Chemistry will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Blackboard, hybrid courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content.
  • Some walking, climbing stairs, sitting and standing for long period of time.
  • Ability to lift 10lbs. 1% of the time
