Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
The Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry (CBMC) (https://pharmacy.unc.edu/divisions/cbmc/) in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (https://pharmacy.unc.edu) invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in AI-Driven Drug Discovery. We are seeking candidates whose research experience integrates Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI) with Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, and/or Computational Chemistry, with an emphasis on ML/AI approaches. The ideal candidates will possess the potential to establish an innovative, competitive, and independent research program. Candidates are expected to contribute to the education and training of students in the Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PhD) graduate program, the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) professional program, and postdoctoral fellows in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD. degree in Computational Chemistry, Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A strong track record of publications that demonstrate innovation and an interest in AI Drug Discovery, including designing, synthesizing, and/or applying novel molecular therapeutics to disease states.
An established competitive and independent research program, or clear potential to establish one.
Candidates with expertise in Computational Modeling, AI Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry.
