Job description

Summary

Directs and manages production flow. This position involves the organization and directing of production personnel and processes. Assures Production Efficiencies, Quality, and Coworker Safety objectives are attained. This position must interact with other departments to resolve issues and develop solutions for problems that may affect production-related activities. Must be willing to work any shift, 8-10-hour workdays, and possible overtime as required to meet customer requirements. Reports to and receives daily work assignments from Production Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Production Supervisor can directly lead 3 – 30 coworkers at any time. Expectations include carrying out any responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. A Production Supervisor is a working member of the production team when required for customer or company need. Additional responsibilities may also include indirectly or directly assisting with forklift driving, material handling, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining coworkers; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Monitor the production work centers and equipment to ensure that each work center and piece of equipment is performing in accordance with established goals. Evaluate actual versus planned performance of production results daily. Modify production requirements and resources as needed to meet production goals.

  • Responsible for providing supervision to coworkers. Provides direction and coaching to help coworkers reach their maximum potential. Interacts with all production coworkers daily to ensure processes are being followed and that the work environment reflects positively on overall company morale.

  • Work with the Production Manager and Production Support to schedule and meet daily, weekly, and monthly production plan.

  • Assist Production Manager with facilitating training of production coworkers. Ensures each coworker or temporary associate has proper training before working in production area. Insures that GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety protocol are enforced in the plant.

  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement in production efficiencies and processes. Using a Lean Manufacturing Program, recommends, and implements measures to improve production processes, equipment performance, and the quality of the product. Suggests changes to working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production lines, department, and teams. Facilitates team and work center meetings to address issues and develop resolutions.

  • Using Microsoft Office software, responsible for tracking and charting each line’s production to goal on a weekly basis. Uses information to recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance. Posts measurements verses goals at work centers and equipment.

  • Responsible for identifying major downtime factors causing issues for production. Reports out daily issues and resolutions.

  • Production focal for any incident or accident issues in production. Will conduct thorough investigation, determine corrective action, and conduct training for all production coworkers. Also, participates in and supports all safety program elements. This includes safety training, inspections, incident investigation, incentive programs, and any other related activities.

  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as required. This description serves as an outline of main duties and responsibilities for this position.

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual shall be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

  • Language Skills: Using the English language, demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend simple work instructions, documented training instructions and safety protocol. Demonstrate adequate penmanship skills: write clearly and understandably. Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate one on one or in team situations.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Demonstrate ability to operate a calculator or 10 Key.

  • Reasoning Ability: Possess the ability to determine course of action required when presented with a new issue or course of action required when a repetitive problem occurs.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the coworker is regularly required to stand, bend, or squat. The coworker may be required to walk, climb, or balance themselves. The coworker will need to talk and hear. The coworker will use their fingers, hands, and arms to move product, raw materials or operate equipment. The coworker may frequently lift and stack product up to 40 lbs. and infrequently lift materials or pallets up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for this position include: distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of the job, the coworker is frequently exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.
