Process Technician - ALD Applications & Process Development

Job Description

At ASM, we are advancing semiconductor manufacturing through innovation in Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and enabling our customers to develop the next generation of memory, logic, and specialty semiconductor devices. We are seeking a highly motivated Process Technician to join our Applications and Process Development team in a fast-paced laboratory environment supporting leading-edge semiconductor technologies.

As a member of the team, you will support process development, customer demonstrations, tool operations, and laboratory activities associated with advanced ALD technologies. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and thrives in a collaborative environment where priorities can change quickly.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain advanced ALD deposition systems supporting process development, customer demonstrations, and technology qualification activities.
  • Perform wafer handling, sample preparation, process execution, and post-process metrology activities.
  • Execute process experiments, collect process data, and maintain accurate experimental records.
  • Monitor tool performance and assist in routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery activities.
  • Support chamber qualification, process characterization, and tool matching activities.
  • Participate in tool ownership activities, Best Known Method (BKM) development, laboratory sustaining, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety protocols involving semiconductor process equipment, chemicals, gases, and facility systems.
  • Participate in cross-training across multiple process modules and characterization techniques.

  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, experimental plans, and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, process development laboratories, or a related high-technology environment.
  • Experience operating semiconductor process equipment in a production, engineering, or R&D setting.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor wafer processing and contamination control practices.
  • Previous experience with tool ownership, process transfer, equipment qualification, or process sustainment activities.
