Job description

Registered Nurse Float Pool

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital’s (NVRH) Float Pool is looking for registered nurses. The Float Pool RN is responsible for the overall management of all nursing care for assigned patients. This position is designed to support the needs for staffing of the inpatient units and will be required to float to any outlined areas. The Float Pool RN will strive to perform total patient care needs in the following departments: Med/Surg/Peds, ICU and ED in addition to any other designated area. They may assist in non-surgical areas of the perioperative suite. The Float Nurse RN will obtain their daily assignment in accordance with the hospital supervisor’s anticipated need for any department. The float nurse collaborates with and directs the activities of others to meet patient care needs for patients and utilizes the Nursing Process as a basis for nursing decisions. Delivers care appropriate for the patient’s age, physiological, spiritual, psychosocial, and developmental needs; accountable to the Hospital Supervisor when assigned to the unit and, while on duty, interacts closely with the assigned unit Nursing Director. Extensive orientation and training will be provided in all necessary units prior to assignments. RNs with 2-3 years (accumulative) clinical experience will be successful in this role.
