Job description

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Academic Advising, the Assistant Director of Administrative Process directly supervises LAS Academic Advising Center's Academic Advisors. The Assistant Director of Administrative Process is responsible for the day-to-day operations of advisor and student enacted application of administrative and educational policy. In addition to maintaining materials related to university policies and the procedures necessary to carry out policies, the Assistant Director trains new advising staff and provides updates to continuing advising staff regarding policies and procedures. The position oversees and serves as a resource for general advising staff, including regular supervisory meetings and attention to on-going training and development needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provides collaborative leadership within Student Academic Affairs and degree advising administration.
  • Provides direct supervision of Academic Advisors in the LAS Academic Advising Center.
  • Conducts employee performance reviews and identifies professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Co-facilitates the Advising Center's advisor meetings.
  • Serves on the search committees for academic advisors.
  • Assists with the onboarding and participates in the training and continued professional development of academic advisors.
  • Supports academic grade review, including academic advisor review and trainings, student tracking, reinstatement petition processes, etc.
  • Ensures the accuracy of advisor enacted application of university and college academic and administrative policy including but not limited to registration requests, registration revisions, University Withdrawals, test-based credit and retroactive credit.
  • Supports the management of the general petition committee.
  • Maintains related materials, updating as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
