Job description

Project Manager - OSP Charlotte
Location: Charlotte, NC
Tower Engineering Professionals is seeking a full-time Project Manager in our Charlotte, NC office. As a Project Manager, you will serve as an integral member of our fiber engineering team. Project Manager Responsibilities:
  • Work both in an office and field environment conducting the management of construction activities for aerial amp; underground fiber optic cable facilities
  • Work with vendors and in-house staff to develop estimates and schedules in response to client requests for design build services of outside plant fiber optic networks and supporting projects
  • Manage field and office staff to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule, under budget, and reflect client requirements and best engineering practices.
  • Manage and drive quality standards in accordance with project specifications.
  • Communicate effectively and daily with design project managers, engineers, drafters and administrative personnel
  • Communicate with clients including regular site and office meetings to develop projects for which a quotation has been requested
  • Manage in-house fiber engineering team and equipment
  • Perform administrative tasks as required
  • Compile and post monthly invoicing for assigned projects and be able to report on project performance and profitability
  • Manage company health and safety plan and develop processes for the effective protection of the public, company and vendor personnel
  • Prepare, review and revise vendor and client contracts associated with construction services.
  • Compile construction conflicts from field staff or proposed changes and develop solutions in conjunction with design engineers
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in telecommunication and/or electrical distribution systems, engineering principles, constructability and design standards
  • 5+ years of managing field and/or office staff
  • Previous experience with GIS, CAD or LiDar is a plus
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, strong organizational skills, high level of integrity, and strong team player.
  • Communicate ideas for improving field processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
  • Keeps executive leadership informed about project status and issues regarding constructability and progress as well as issues that could affect client relations.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience in utility construction is preferred.
  • Based on the applicant’s experience, education and skill level, there are potential growth opportunities to advance into a senior project manager role
  • Individual must be available to mobilize when scheduled and must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) dating back 5 years.
  • Ability to work in adverse settings and climatic conditions
  • Skilled at managing assigned tasks with little supervision
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, walk, move, lift, carry… equipment ( gt;20lb) for the duration of the work day
