Job description

OSP Project Lead
Location: Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC
Job Type: Full Time, Salaried
Compensation: $58,000 - $77,000 (based on experience)
Travel: 25%
TEP is seeking a full-time Project Lead in our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC office.
As a Project Lead, you will serve as an integral member of our fiber engineering team and provide direct leadership over work associated with new fiber network builds, to include: dark fiber, enterprise, E-Rate, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects.

Project Lead Responsibilities:
  • Learn, understand, and ensure customer and jurisdictional standards and requirements are properly being applied to each project. Assist in training of other team members to ensure their full understanding of requirements
  • Manage in-house fiber engineering team members and provide technical support and instruction on assigned projects
  • Assist project manager(s) to ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule, under budget, and reflect client requirements and best engineering practices.
  • Manage and drive quality standards in accordance with project specifications.
  • Communicate with employees and managers to assure timely and efficient completion of projects, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation of the life of the project
  • Communicate with clients and/or jurisdictions, including virtual and in-person meetings, to help project managers provide weekly status updates and answer any questions about the design
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in the telecommunication industry, with thorough understanding of engineering principles, network architecture and equipment, as well as constructability and design standards
  • 3+ years of managing office staff (direct reports)
  • In-depth knowledge and experience using AutoCAD and Arc or QGIS
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects, coupled with experience in working with fast-paced engineering in a production environment.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills, strong organizational skills, high level of integrity, and strong team player.
  • Communicate ideas for improving processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
  • Keeps direct manager and executive leadership informed about project status and issues regarding constructability and progress as well as issues that could affect client relations.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience in utility construction is preferred.
  • Based on the applicant’s experience, education and skill level, there are potential growth opportunities to advance into a project manager role
