Job description

Work directly with the Network Manager and Lead Network Engineer on various projects including system rollouts, upgrades and infrastructure changes. Conduct analysis, administration, management, and maintenance of computer network systems and data circuits. Analyze, design, install, configure and repair key systems to meet user specifications. Consult with end users to assess system functionality. Maintain daily performance, monitor network and system performance and administers security on multiple platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consult with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications
  • Work with appropriate business partners when rolling out new systems or system changes in order to address issues and fix bugs. Must perform necessary testing and analysis to ensure system stability before transferring support responsibility to the support desk
  • Manage complex network projects from beginning to end including refresh, infrastructure, and process projects
  • Ability to work across Unified Communications, Route, Switch, Wireless, SD WAN, and Network Security platforms
  • Strong Firewall and Routing skills. Understand BGP and EVPN technologies
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systemsMentor junior network engineers/operations to be able to further their skillsets
  • Translate business requirements into network designs and solutions
  • Collaborating with a group of network engineers delivering new solutions to support manufacturing networking
  • Work directly with lead network engineer on developing new processes and project
  • Partner with equipment manufactures and internal customers to test and certify IoT solutions
  • Contribute to the research and design of future generation network roadmaps
  • Provide Tier 2 network engineering escalation support
  • Design and deliver network infrastructure to support new and existing initiatives
  • Translate technical knowledge into support procedures
  • Work alongside Site Reliability Engineers to automate manual activities

  • Document project in ADO Wiki including troubleshooting information for technical support
  • Manage trouble tickets when escalated from support group
  • Monitor computer networks using network management and analysis products.
  • Identify and resolve basic network problems such as ethernet loop failures, device connectivity problems, Network Addressing (IP), DNS, DHCP, and slow response time. Assists in resolution of complex network problems.
  • Monitor and track system performance looking for network slow downs and bottle necks.
  • Administers security by way of access control for all network appliances. Maintains user lists and security logs, and follows up on security violations.

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in Information Technology or professional experience equivalent
  • 5-8 years Network Engineering experience
  • CCNP required
  • Proven experience with ability to learn how to use/implement new software and hardware quickly
