Assistant Ncaa Swimming Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Western Colorado University invites applications for the full‑time position of Aquatics Director/Assistant Swim Coach.

• Manage operations of aquatics facilities, policies, and pool schedule for open swim, swim activities, and swimming programs.
• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of staff and volunteers, including teaching aquatic safety and providing required certifications.
• Oversee organization, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatics programs and facilities for collegiate, extracurricular, and community use.
• Adhere to aquatic safety guidelines and university procedures, and manage payroll, billing, and charges for non‑collegiate use of the pool.
• Coordinate recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, certification, and performance evaluation of lifeguard employees.
• Provide teaching for lifeguarding, CPR, water safety, and other required certifications; cover lifeguard needs for scheduling conflicts.
• Assist in maintenance of pools, including chemistry, climate control, cleanliness, and other pool needs.
• Help maintain and repair aquatics facilities and equipment, and work with the Athletics Facilities & Operations Coordinator to keep the pool clean and in good repair.
• Schedule routine and deep cleaning as well as preventive maintenance of all pool systems.
• Apply knowledge of USA Swimming/FINA Swimming, RMAC Conference, and NCAA Swimming rules and regulations.
• Assist the Head Coach in organizing and conducting practice sessions, recruiting student athletes, monitoring academic progress, and recommending athletes for awards.
• Enforce training rules and monitor conduct of student athletes representing the university.
• Ensure institutional compliance with NCAA, RMAC Conference, and USA Swimming policies and procedures.
• Set up and tear down all equipment, spectator seating, and pool deck for all swim team home meets; operate and maintain the Colorado Timing System during all home meets.
• Provide information about aquatics programs to schools, community groups, and the general public.
• Develop flyers, brochures, and advertisements as needed to promote aquatic programming.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or four years of management‑level experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
• Previous collegiate‑level swimmer or coaching experience as a club swim coach or NCAA swimming coach.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Water Safety Instructor Trainer, CPR/First Aid with Red Cross AED/Oxygen Knowledge, Lifeguard, or willingness to obtain all listed certifications before start date.
• Knowledge of coaching methods.
• Ability to travel, including domestic/international air travel, and availability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of all RMAC Conference and NCAA rules/bylaws.
• Positive representation of Western Colorado University at all times.
• Reading and writing skills appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, student‑athletes, and the general student body.

• Three years collegiate swim coaching experience.
• Certified Pool Operator, Chemical Testing, Pool System Operations, Swim Programming/Lessons Programming experience.

The position is FLSA exempt with a salary of $40,560. Western offers a comprehensive benefits package, including shared premiums for health, dental, retirement, life insurance, and tuition discounts for dependents after one year of employment.
