Rate of Pay:   69,240.53 - 77,895.59

 

 

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Nagaajiwanaang (Where the water stops), is one of the six Bands of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe and a proud sovereign Ojibwe nation.   • Associates degree in natural resource management or related field is required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resources related field is preferred.
  • 5 years of work experience in natural resources related field required.
  • Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, Access, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Knowledge of water quality testing, fisheries, and wildlife population and habitat assessment, management, and restoration is required.
  • Ability to develop and manage fisheries, wildlife, and wild rice projects as directed by the Resource Management Director is required.
  • Ability to coordinate Resource Management Technicians to accomplish the Natural Resource Program objectives.
  • Ability to write and obtain grants to fund Natural Resource Program projects is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation's Personnel Policies.
  • Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
  • Some travel may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds is required.
  • Prolonged sitting, with some lifting and walking is required.
  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling are required. 
  • Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Band and Resource Management policies and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees. Planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, employee discipline, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the Resource Management Technicians to assist the various Programs within the Resource Management Division, 
  • Coordinate fisheries, wildlife, and wild rice management and restoration projects within the Fond du Lac Reservation. 
  • Maintain record keeping system of data collection.
  • Manage financial aspects of the Natural Resources Program, grant writing, purchasing, overall budget development and oversight.
  • Identify, apply for, and administer grant funding to grow and sustain the Natural Resources Program
  • Develop, complete, and maintain a comprehensive database of priority natural resources on the Fond du Lac Reservation, as determined by the Natural Resource Manager and Resource Management Director.
  • Initiate, plan, manage and coordinate programs based on natural resource needs of the Fond du Lac Reservation.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Appropriate work attire is required.
  • Must attend all mandatory department training.
  • Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees, and/or clients.
  • Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
  • Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
  • Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.

  • Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
