To thrive as an Assistant MEP Project Manager, you need a solid background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree and project management experience. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Primavera), AutoCAD, and BIM tools is usually required, along with an understanding of building codes and safety regulations. Assistant MEP Project Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating between multiple subcontractors, managing tight project schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. They are responsible for tracking progress, resolving on-site technical issues, and facilitating clear communication among mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams.
