Job description

NY office of a top law firm is seeking an Assistant Managing ClerK

Minimum of 5 years of litigation docketing or managing clerk experience in a Managing Clerk's office


Position Summary


The Assistant Managing Clerk supports the firm's litigation practice by maintaining the docketing and calendaring system, coordinating court filings, and ensuring compliance with applicable court rules and deadlines. This position serves as a resource for attorneys and staff on procedural and filing matters and assists the Managing Clerk with the day-to-day operations of the department.


Essential Functions


* Review court filings, pleadings, orders, and other litigation documents to identify and calculate deadlines in accordance with applicable court rules.

* Maintain the firm's docketing and calendaring system, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all entries.

* Review filings for compliance with court rules and filing requirements.

* Electronically file documents in federal and state courts and coordinate manual filings when necessary.

* Conduct docket searches, retrieve court documents, and provide procedural and court rule research support to attorneys.

* Monitor federal and state court dockets, including new filings and case developments.

* Coordinate service of process for summonses, subpoenas, and related legal documents.

* File court documents at local courthouses as needed.

* Assist the Managing Clerk with departmental projects and daily operations.




Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Minimum of 5 years of litigation docketing or managing clerk experience in a Managing Clerk's office law firm.
* Experience with docketing and calendaring systems, including CourtAlert, CompuLaw, or similar platforms.
* Proficiency with PACER, NYSCEF, eTrack, eCourts, and other court databases.
* Strong knowledge of the CPLR and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP).
* Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet filing deadlines.
* Notary Public certification preferred.
