Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This job requires aiding in the management and oversight of current and future environmental projects, laws, permitting compliance, and other regulation for land, air, and water affecting daily operations at Rose Acre Farms. This position will also assist the Environmental Services Manager and other Rose Acre employees, whenever needed, in the compliance and implementation of environmental programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be familiar with and able to easily navigate general computer applications including but not limited to Open Office, MS Word, Excel, Access, E-mail and various other applications as required.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the year for education, inspections, industry meetings, and other related business.
  • Must treat all employees, customers, and visitors with respect and courtesy and in compliance with all State and Federal laws.
  • Must be able to engage in frequent professional communication between lawmakers, regulators, engineers, and other industry professionals
  • Must utilize excellent teamwork skills - as with many jobs this position requires a "team" attitude.
  • Must handle multiple tasks at once - the ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Must perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving entire body such as climbing, lifting at least 50 pounds, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Additional functions may include water sampling and testing, manure sampling and testing, sludge sampling and testing.
  • Employee may be expected to become certified/licensed in the areas of fertilizer application, wastewater treatment, OSHA, pesticides application, etc.
  • Capable of working weekend shifts and maintaining a flexible schedule to help other departments should they need assistance on a particular day. This may include working nights, and holidays.
  • Capable of working late (if needed) past the scheduled leave time to complete the job.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High School diploma.
  • Experience in environmental law and regulation, wastewater treatment, is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with and able to easily navigate general computer applications including but not limited to Open Office, MS Word, Excel, Access, LIM, ADP, E-mail and various other applications as required.
  • Must have excellent communication and people skills, including the ability to train new employees and assist with employee orientations.
  • Must be honest and ethical and perform all functions of job in such manner.
  • Must be reliable and responsible.
  • Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks efficiently.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take on new responsibilities.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, being open to change (positive and negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Must be persistent in the face of obstacles.
  • Must be able to maintain composure even in very difficult situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
